Privacy Policy
Loop ("the Application", "we", "us", or "our") is developed and maintained as an offline-first personal tracking, cataloging, and reading progress organizer for comic and manga enthusiasts across Android and iOS platforms.
We believe that your personal data, reading habits, and private notes belong exclusively to you. This Privacy Policy details the technical architecture, data handling practices, and legal commitments of Loop in strict compliance with the Apple App Store Review Guidelines (specifically Guideline 5.1 - Privacy), Google Play Developer Program Policies (User Data & Data Safety), the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA).
1. Summary: Zero-Collection Guarantee
- No User Accounts: Loop does not require registration, passwords, email addresses, phone numbers, or third-party logins (e.g., Sign in with Apple, Google Sign-In).
- No Personal Data Collected: We do not collect, harvest, store, or transmit your name, physical address, email, location, contacts, device identifiers (IDFA/GAID), or biometric data.
- No Telemetry or Tracking: Loop contains zero third-party analytics SDKs, advertising frameworks, behavioral trackers, or data broker integrations.
- No Sale or Sharing of Data: We do not sell, rent, monetize, or disclose any user information under any circumstances.
2. On-Device Local Storage Architecture
Loop is engineered with an offline-first, client-side boundary:
- Local Database: Your library catalog—including manga/manhwa/manhua titles, read chapter counts, total chapters, reading status (Reading, Completed, On Hold, Dropped, Plan to Read), personal star ratings, custom notes, favorite flags, and genre tags—is stored strictly on your local device in a sandboxed SQLite database via Room.
- Cover Art Cache: Cached cover images and user-imported custom covers are stored locally within the application's private sandboxed directory.
- No Cloud Sync or Remote Storage: We do not operate proprietary cloud databases that mirror or synchronize your personal library. Your data remains strictly on your device unless you manually choose to export it.
3. Network Communications & Ephemeral Search Queries
Loop includes an online metadata search feature that allows you to discover titles, chapter counts, and cover art. The network architecture operates as follows:
- Ephemeral Queries: When you enter a query into the Search screen, the query text (e.g., the title of a comic) is transmitted directly via an encrypted HTTPS connection (TLS 1.3) to our read-only catalog repository hosted on Supabase.
- No Identification or Profiling: The query contains only the sanitized search string. No device fingerprints, advertising IDs, IP-linked profiles, or persistent cookies are logged, recorded, or tied to your identity.
- Transient Memory Execution: Search results returned to your device reside solely in volatile application memory (RAM) while you browse. No search history is sent to or retained on remote servers.
- Cover Image Retrieval: When loading cover artwork, your device downloads the image file directly via HTTPS and caches it on local storage.
4. Backup, Export, and Import Management
Loop provides tools allowing you to create manual backups (ZIP archives containing your JSON database and cover images) and import/export CSV spreadsheets:
- User Custody: All backup and CSV files are generated entirely on-device by the application's local engine.
- Storage Destination: Files are written solely to the local file path or cloud drive (e.g., iCloud Drive, Google Drive, local storage) explicitly selected by you through your operating system's native file picker (Android Storage Access Framework or iOS Document Picker).
- Zero Remote Interception: We do not receive, copy, inspect, or retain copies of your backup archives or CSV exports.
5. Device Permissions
Loop requests only the minimal system permissions necessary for core utility operation:
Android Manifest
android.permission.INTERNET: Required exclusively to execute HTTPS requests for the remote metadata catalog search and to fetch cover images.android.permission.VIBRATE: Required exclusively to provide optional tactile haptic feedback during UI interactions (e.g., chapter increment counters, swipe gestures).- Storage Access: Loop uses the modern Storage Access Framework (SAF) and scoped internal storage. No broad external storage read/write permissions (
READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGEorMANAGE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE) are requested.
iOS Configuration & Privacy Manifest (PrivacyInfo.xcprivacy)
- Tracking (
NSPrivacyTracking): Declared asfalse. The application does not track users across apps and websites owned by other companies. - UserDefaults (
CA92.1): Accessed exclusively to store local user interface preferences (such as selected color theme, grid column sizing, and sorting orders) on-device. - File Timestamps (
C617.1): Accessed exclusively to determine local cache age and manage the internal lifecycle of downloaded cover images.
6. Children's Privacy (COPPA & GDPR-K Compliance)
Loop is designed for a general audience and does not knowingly collect, solicit, or maintain personal information from children under the age of 13 (or under 16 in the European Union). Because Loop does not collect any personal data or maintain user accounts, our operations fully satisfy the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and equivalent international child safety standards.
7. Third-Party Services and External Links
- Supabase: Used strictly as a read-only metadata catalog infrastructure. Supabase handles incoming HTTPS requests in accordance with industry-standard security practices. No personal user data is sent to Supabase.
- External URLs: If you choose to input external cover image URLs, the application fetches the image resource directly from that URL. We do not control and are not responsible for the privacy practices of external hosting domains chosen by the user.
8. Data Security and Retention
Because your data resides entirely on your device's local file system:
- Retention: Your data is retained on your device for as long as the application remains installed, or until you choose to delete individual entries or clear application storage.
- Security: Your data is protected by your operating system's sandbox security and device-level encryption (e.g., iOS Data Protection / FileVault and Android File-Based Encryption).
- Deletion: Uninstalling the application immediately and irreversibly deletes all local databases, cached images, and user preferences stored within the application container.
9. Apple App Store & Google Play Data Safety Disclosures
Apple Privacy Nutrition Label

10. Changes to This Privacy Policy
